Adolf Hitler, along with his Nazi Regime, had eyes set on conquering more of Europe to expand the German army. They were successful in taking over France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark. Prior to the concentration camps, Jews and Gypsies and other members of “inadequate” races were forced into places called ghettos. Others who were not placed in the ghettos, but still were Jewish or members of another religion or organization were typically gunned down by traveling executioners that belonged to Hitler’s Nazi army. “Mobile killing units called Einsatzgruppen would murder more than 500,000 Soviet Jews and others (usually by shooting) over the course of the German occupation.” (Holocaust) Jews that resided in German occupied land were forced to wear a yellow Star of David on their shirts to signify that they were Jewish. They were made to do this act so that they were easily found, captured, or murdered on sight. Right before the concentration camps opened, practice with mass killings had already begun with the Nazi army. The practice would lead to the beginning of a horrific part of history known as, The Holocaust.
Reflection: The Nazi Party followed Hitler so strongly that they too were willing to exterminate an entire population because of one man's opinion. Even today, people have the tendencies to believe in something someone says, wants, or believes, so much that they would be willing to do whatever it takes to prove their loyalty to a particular person. There are so many dangers in wanting acceptance by a person or group of people that it is likely that someone will lose their morals and values to be like everyone else. Going back to the ISIS situation, so many people are now trying to leave their countries to go join in on the ISIS bandwagon because they say it is their calling. Having a calling is one thing but killing innocent people is an entirely different realm that has no pros to its argument.
