Even though the Holocaust was a result of Anti-Semitism behavior expression, the idea of hating an entire population of people because of the religion they follow did not begin with Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Regime. “Though use of the term itself dates only to the 1870s, there is evidence of hostility toward Jews long before the Holocaust–even as far back as the ancient world, when Roman authorities destroyed the Jewish temple in Jerusalem and forced Jews to leave Palestine.” (Holocaust) After World War I ended and Germany was defeated, Hitler along with many other people blamed the Jewish population for the loss of the war. Hitler had a strong obsession for a German race that was pure. He referred to this race, as “Aryan” What this proposed pure race did not include was features from the Jewish genealogy and heritage. To aid in his obliteration of the race that he no longer saw fit to live, Hitler created places called Concentration Camps, where he brought innocent people to live, work, suffer, and ultimately lose their lives. “The first official concentration camp opened at Dachau (near Munich) in March 1933.” (Holocaust)
Reflection: Hitler's main goal was to rid the world of something he believed was unfit. The rationale that one person can cause the mass executions of a race is what led the Holocaust to becoming as dominant as it was. The Jewish population was put under blame for everything, and were never given a chance to stand their grounds. One man's opinion can not be what shapes history if it is not for common good. As today in modern times, it is seen widely that Christians are being persecuted for believing in Jesus Christ and are being targeted by extreme radicals known as ISIS, who follow Islam. it is a vicious circle of hatred based on religion that needs to find an end.
